It's hard to mention SaaS without someone mentioning Salesforce.com, the clear leader in the SaaS space. So a small, private company like Appirio getting David Orrico on board is a big deal. While I don't exactly know what happened first, if David left Salesforce before he was courted by Appirio or if he was recruited out, the addition of David to Appirio's executive team is huge. Since Appirio is a partner with Salesforce, it is possible that David was moved over to help out Salesforce's partner. When Appirio's CEO and the Board of Directors sat down with the recruiting team, they probably said, "We want someone like David Orrico." There are probably a lot of SaaS companies saying the same thing. David's sales experience in top sales organizations like Siebel, Oracle and Salesforce make him a hot commodity.
