Entrepreneur in Residence placements fascinate me. Between 2001 and 2004, I worked on several EIR projects (indirectly) for some major VC firms. EIRs are best in class executives that have impressive careers with great companies and they have led these companies to successful exits, either IPO or acquisition. VCs hire them to advise and assist portfolio companies and often they end up leading a portfolio company. This week, I am highlighting Thomas Kelly, a new EIR at Trident Capital. Thomas has led or held senior executive positions at several companies. He has experience at leading his companies to acquisition, which is the most common exit strategy for VCs these days. It will be interesting to see where Mr Kelly ends up next.
