This week I am highlighting an excellent move by Palm, hiring Katie Burke Mitic as their new SVP Product Marketing. Katie was a great choice for a couple of reasons. First, I think that she packs the consumer marketing punch that Palm needs right now as the Palm Pre squares off with the iPhone. While I think that the Pre isn't going to win the fight, for Palm it's all about putting a dent in the iPhone's market share right now, even if it's just a small dent. She is a veteran of many hard fought battles over market share at Yahoo. Second, she has acquisition experience (which might not be an issue for Palm, but you never know). Finally, she has spent time as an EIR.
