This week, I am highlighting the pick of Dick Williams, new CEO at Webroot Software. For those of you that don’t know, Webroot is an anti-spyware / anti-malware company that received $108 million in funding back in 2005 (the largest round for a start-up in history, at least until that point in time). Mr Williams has a history of leading companies to acquisition. I wonder if this is the plan? Either way, Mr Williams and Webroot face a lot of competition from big, brand name companies like Symantec and freeware applications like Spybot Search and Destroy (which is currently installed on my computer). Webroot is not a household name (at least not at my house) and I would bet money (not much) that more people have heard of the free Spybot than Webroot. Webroot's mission is to "expand their position in the global consumer and enterprise security markets" with Mr Williams at the helm.
